Lately: Cabin Fever!

I don't know about you, but I'm the type of person who finds it hard to sit around and do nothing. If I had a day off, I would always go out and about and make the most of the day. My absolute nightmare would be to hang around the house and do nothing. Now don't get me wrong...my ideal get away from it all holiday, would involve a cuppa, a good book and curled up in front of a roaring fire...doing absolutely nothing! But at home it's different. I just feel I'm wasting time.

Unfortunately I've had to rethink my status on this and have come to accept that sometimes, doing nothing is just the way it has to be.  I'm now three and a half weeks post major surgery and since coming out of hospital I've not been doing a great deal. Never mind the op, it's this hanging around doing nothing that takes some getting used to. :)

So I just thought I'd share some of the things I have been doing whilst in the confines of my 'recovery phase'.
Lately I've been...

Playing...at dot to dots, colouring in and jigsaws. All those things that we used to do as kids and of which are now trendy to do!

Watching...Lots of TV, Box sets and old time favourite dvds. From crime series box sets, to good old rom coms, War and Peace and lots of BBC gems thrown in, I seem to watching an awful lot of tv! I haven't yet descended the slippery slope of daytime tv soaps or reality tv...but I do seem to be in the habit of watching Midsummer Murders!

Reading... Lots of magazines, usually old issues that I never had time to read, some passed on chic lit and trying to balance all this out with some classics.

Creating...Well not so much as creating, but skimming and scouring magazines and such and finding lots of inspiration for creating!

Catching up....Finally putting pen to paper and sending out little hellos, thank yous and the like. Not just via snail mail, but also trying to catch up on all the social media that seems to go along with everyday life.

Snuggling....I've been told to have lots of rest...and so that's what ive been doing, snuggling up with a cosy blanket, a book and a cup of tea.

Listening..To lots of forgotten cds and play lists on my ipod.

Sorting...taking the time to sort out things I've been meaning to do for ages, like my bags, make up and jewellery. My charity shop bags are getting full!

Walking...I'm not allowed to do too much, saying that I don't think I could manage very much, but I'm enjoying a leisurely 20 minute walk each day, just up and down the road where I live. I can't drive until at least 6 weeks post op, so until then I'm a bit stuck with the same route!

Organising..I have hundreds of photos that need sorted and backed up, printed out and made into photo books. If I don't do it know...I never will!

So that's my life at the minute....what have you been up to?

  1. Lovely to have you back in blogland and I hope you have a quick and smooth recovery. I'm like you and feel a day at home is wasted unless I'm busy busy. I'd probably do a lot of similar things to you with the addition of crochet, knitting and sewing, maybe some decopatch. I have a spare room full of kits I haven't started yet so that would keep me going a while! X

    1. Thanks for your kind words. Wouldn't you think that as busy women we would like doing nothing! But apparently it's not in our nature. X

  3. Thanks Julie for your nice comments. I don't knit, nor crochet, but I think I would like to try! However I do sew, when I get the urge :) I'm just thinking about starting a new patchwork...so maybe that will fill some time too. X

  4. So many lovely and interesting things to do to while away those hours when you have to rest. I do hope your recovery goes from strength to strength and that you will be venturing further again soon:)

  5. How nice to hear from you! I had a bit of a blog tidy up a little while ago and stopped following people who were no longer posting - I thought you had given up blogging! I will re-follow you now!

Hope you have a quick recovery and can soon get out and about again. In the meantime, do read Meadowland - it's a lovely book and I think will be a great read while you're recuperating!
